If you think that breaking into management is challenging, you’re not alone because it’s true, especially for those who cannot afford a quality education. Thirty-two years ago, career opportunity odds were stacked heavily against me. I was too young, too inexperienced, and I could not afford the cost of obtaining a degree.
Instead of waiting around for luck and opportunity to find me, I committed to three actions that I believed would give me an edge;
- Be reliable and always put in the extra effort.
- Always do my best work no matter what
- Adopt winning habits from people I respect
Then I went out and doubled down on my efforts to convince prospective employers that I was worth hiring.
Within the first seven years, I had the privilege of working on two different management assignments. Fast forward to 1993, I secured my third management position in the retail fuel environment and then managed my own filling station business. In my twenty-five-year management and business journey, I’ve won numerous awards for maintaining high standards and performance and landed three nominations on three separate occasions for the title “Dealer of the year,” a designation reserved for the top ten business performers out of over eleven hundred dealerships.
In 2019 I stepped out of the fuel retail industry to focus on helping other people realize their potential. Developing management potential through skills transfer is what I do. Our program aims to bridge the disparity between experienced and new managers and reduce the learning time. I bring 28 years of comprehensive management and business ownership skills and insights to the table.
I have extensive experience with finance, stock management, shrinkage management, back-office operations, controls, business administration, fast food, bakery, car-wash, people management, and training.
